Placement Testing Exemption

If you already have a College Degree:

Students holding an associate degree or higher may be exempt from WPCC placement testing depending on the Math and English courses previously taken.  Students who have successfully completed ENG 111 with a grad of “C” or better may be exempt from the reading and writing sections of the placement test.  Exemption from the numerical, elementary algebra or intermediate algebra sections of the placement test is dependent on the student’s major.  Questions regarding exemptions for the placement test should be directed to the Director of Admissions.

If you have taken the SAT or ACT Test:

If you have recently taken the SAT or ACT test, you may be exempt from part or all of WPCC’s placement tests.  You will need to bring a copy of your test scores to Student Services to receive exemption.

For English and Reading classes, the student must complete all previous level course work in both English and Reading or have the appropriate placement test scores before going on to the next level of course work in either English or Reading. 

NOTE:  High school students are not eligible to take developmental courses (courses under the 100 level).  These courses are for students who have earned a high school diploma or GED and need additional coursework to build their skills up to college level.
